Aliro is a growing startup that builds software to simulate, emulate, and operate real-world applications of entanglement-based networks. Aliro’s software actively supports quantum networks being developed by our customers at aerospace companies, national labs, academic institutions, and telecommunications providers.Aliro is hiring a remote or hybrid (Boston area) research scientist who is excited to innovate at the cutting edge of quantum information science and technology. At Aliro, you will work alongside software engineers, quantum physicists, and business leads to develop the Aliro Simulator software product, provide professional simulation services to Aliro’s customers, and conduct quantum networking research for publication or patent.Responsibilities- Collaborate with customers to address their needs in quantum network research and design.- Develop and maintain the Aliro Simulator software, APIs, workflows, documentation, and demos.- Implement scalable simulations that accurately model quantum hardware and protocols.- Teach webinars, write technical papers/blog posts, and present research at conferences.Qualifications- Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in science, technology, engineering, or math.- Published research in the field of quantum information science and technology.- Experience with software engineering, computational research, or scientific computing.- US citizenship or permanent resident status with ability to work in eastern standard time.- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in remote and virtual settings.Preferred background- Familiarity with quantum computing or networking architectures, protocols, and algorithms.- Familiarity with quantum software packages such as Qiskit, Cirq, SeQUeNCe, PennyLane, etc.- Experience with GPU computing, cloud computing, or high-performance computing.- Expertise in one or more of the following quantum networking domains of knowledge: - Entanglement-based Networking: entanglement generation, transduction, distribution, purification, routing, error correction/mitigation, timing synchronization, orchestration, etc. - Quantum Secure Communications: quantum position verification, quantum cryptography, post-quantum cryptography, quantum authentication, quantum key distribution, etc. - Quantum Computing: error correction and mitigation, readout and control, qubit platform engineering, measurement-based quantum computing, compilation and scheduling, etc. - Quantum Physics: open-quantum systems, quantum information theory, AMO physics, physical modeling, variational quantum algorithms, quantum simulation and emulation, etc. - Architectures and Applications: heterogeneous quantum networks, satellite/free-space or fiber optic networks, distributed quantum computing, distributed quantum sensing, etc.Apply at the bottom of this page.
