This role is part of the Ethics and Compliance team at Allianz Life and supports compliance assurance with regulatory and legal requirements, and related company policies for areas assigned. The role researches and resolves compliance issues, recommends changes to ensure adherence to internal and external requirements, and monitors compliance by identifying and assessing processes, risks and controls for assigned areas. The position will demonstrate expertise and independence in the assigned area and may take direction from more senior positions on complex matters. May be tasked with special assignments and project work outside the scope of day-to-day responsibilities.

What you do:

The role involves fostering relationships and collaborating with organizations across the three lines of defense including, Legal, Ethics & Compliance, Risk, Enterprise Operations, Protection & Resilience, Distribution, AIM, Internal Audit and other cross-functional teams, to help ensure compliance with internal and external requirements while enabling the business to achieve its objectives.

The candidate will be responsible for performing second line of defense assurance activities for areas assigned in alignment with regulatory compliance and Non-Financial Risk Management requirements outlined in company’s policies and internal rules. The role requires applying influence, problem-solving, organizational skills, data analysis capabilities, and an understanding of Allianz Life products, relevant regulations and operational processes to provide compliance oversight.

  • Contribute to compliance programs by assessing and suggesting change within a discipline as necessary.
  • Identify and evaluate risks and mitigating controls; assist with creating and implementing controls.
  • Conduct risk assessments, facilitate process walkthroughs and control identification workshops.
  • Execute test programs to assess the design and operational effectiveness of internal controls or business processes.
  • Identify and communicate issues of non-compliance, or improvement opportunities; prepare clear, concise reporting for stakeholders.
  • Perform issue follow-up, validation and escalation as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, procedures and guidelines in alignment with internal requirements.
  • Provide peer-to-peer training, knowledge sharing and informal work direction to new or existing team members.
  • Participate in projects supporting the enhancement and management of compliance programs.
  • Maintain effective relationships with internal customers and stakeholders, supporting collaboration amongst the three lines of defense.
  • Act as a subject-matter resource on internal control principles, internal requirements, and assigned relevant regulations, compliance risks and business areas.
  • Continue developing knowledge of the insurance industry, company operations and regulations and risk management frameworks through various learning opportunities.
  • Support internal and regulatory examinations, including regulatory filings.
  • Utilization of artificial intelligence tools and resources (e.g. generative AI)

What you bring:

  • 4+ years of experience in Compliance, Risk or Internal Audit conducting risk assessments and executing tests of design and operating effectiveness, preferably within the insurance industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of Allianz Life products, services, and operational procedures, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to peers and management.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience using data analysis to identify, research and resolve issues independently.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization and time-management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to change, and operate effectively in a dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • High ethical standards and proven integrity when working with sensitive information.
