About the role
We are looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to join our Engineering and lead the Reporting team. This is a hybrid role - part leadership, part deep technical contribution, with approximately 50% of your time spent coding. You’ll help shape technical direction, support your team’s growth, and stay close to the code. Expect to spend at least half your time involved in technical work- be it design, review, prototyping, or implementation.
The Reporting team is responsible for building a scalable reporting system that ingests millions of rows per second into our time-series databases, providing insights into cost savings, workload efficiencies, and Cast AI automation impact.
Requirements:
- Proven experience leading technical teams in a fast-paced environment
- Strong software engineering skills with experience in distributed systems and backend development, ideally in Go
- Solid understanding of Kubernetes internals or cloud-native infrastructure
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Strong grasp of database systems and architecture; experience with time-series databases is a plus
- CI/CD and DevOps practices experience
- Clear communicator with strong written and verbal English skills
- Collaborative and action-oriented leadership style.
Responsibilities as an Engineering Manager:
- Lead, mentor, and grow high-performing engineering teams
- Actively contribute to the codebase - building and maintaining the high-scale data ingestion and time-series reporting infrastructure
- Drive team execution by aligning delivery with business and product goals
- Partner with Product Owners and Tech Leads to shape scope and roadmap
- Ensure robustness, scalability, and security in all deliverables
- Foster a culture of learning, ownership, and technical excellence
- Actively contribute to hiring, onboarding, and team-building efforts
- Be a role model and champion of Cast AI’s values and engineering culture
- Participate in the incident response process as needed.
