Job Description

Develop ECU Component Technical Requirement Specifications (CTRS) while ensuring that common requirements are maintained, and configuration managed across GM’s entire portfolio of ECUs. Ensure sub-component (eg – semiconductor) Functional Safety requirements and Assumptions of Use are comprehended and implemented into ECU CTRS. Develop requirements to standardize Hardware Input/Output (HWIO), electrical interface and software interface definition that drives commonization of ECU components and designs. Change management of technical requirements and specifications. Collaborate across ECU HW COE and Hardware Execution teams to support ECU design development. Support Hardware Execution teams in compiling and reconciling requirements, generate commodity specific ECU CTRS for sourcing activity and update/maintain CTRS after sourcing. Create and maintain deliverables and processes according to the key area assignment of the ECU HW COE. Contribute and Document best practices that enable (BOD) imperatives. Find and deliver complexity optimization. Provide enablers for software reuse including potential methods to separate HW and SW sourcing. Support overall reuse and strategies across all control modules. Develop and maintain templates and tools, Support or define enterprise sourcing strategies and business models based on key area of assignment. Provide solutions by working with the feature owners. Work with execution teams to ensure that the COE strategic vision is implemented in ECU designs. Provide Technical Review, Field Service and Manufacturability, Supplier Quality Support and Participate in controller benchmarking. Model and develop GM's Core Values and Winning Behaviors. Hybrid Work Policy – 3 days In-Office, 2 Days Remote – Must be able to report to local office.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field of study and three (3) years of experience as a Hardware Engineer, Product Engineer, Automotive Engineer, or related role. Three (3) years of experience with the following: Writing and comprehending hardware requirements and Writing Hardware and Mounting Hardware Reference Designs.

Two (2) years of experience with the following: Product design and development cycles; Vehicle serial data communications including CAN, LIN, SENT, Ethernet and electrical architectures; Hardware and software design and failure modes in electronic modules; Developing test plans for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) validation; and ECU circuit level analysis including Worst Case Analysis, Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis and Function Safety analysis for ASIL-D level and below designs.
