Key Responsibilities (What You Are Doing)

  • Write, update, and edit 1–3 shopping-focused stories daily across multiple Hearst brands, with a focus on tech products, deals, and launches
  • Identify and pitch timely, data-informed content ideas that drive affiliate commerce revenue
  • Track and analyze content performance to uncover trends and optimize future editorial strategies
  • Stay ahead of the latest tech deals, product releases, and shopping events, partnering with key retailers to plan coverage
  • Collaborate closely with the central commerce team to uphold editorial best practices and achieve revenue goals
  • Optimize content for SEO, social, and audience engagement across platforms
  • Translate complex tech topics into clear, accessible, and engaging content for a broad audience

Qualifications (What We’re Looking For)

  • 4+ years of experience in writing and editing, including at least 1 year at a digital-first outlet
  • Strong background or demonstrated interest in commerce and consumer technology
  • Exceptional writing and self-editing skills, with the ability to produce clean, accurate, and on-brand copy quickly
  • Proven ability to use analytics and data tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Looker, Skimlinks) to inform editorial decisions
  • Solid understanding of SEO, social media, and content packaging best practices
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work both independently and collaboratively
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics for a general audience
  • Availability to support coverage during major shopping events and holidays
  • Based in or able to work in New York City with a hybrid schedule (4 days per week in-office)

The base salary for this role is between $68,340 and $76,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands.
