Business Lead, New Experiences
United States · Remote
USD 210k-220k / year + Equity
Human Interest is on a mission to ensure that people in all lines of work have access to retirement benefits.
More than half of all working Americans are not saving enough for their future. Too often, it’s because they are employed by a company that doesn’t offer a retirement plan. Human Interest is changing that by making it affordable and accessible for small and medium-sized businesses to offer employees a path to financial independence through retirement savings.
We’re a high-growth fintech company changing the retirement industry. We are backed by a number of investors. This includes funding from Marshall Wace and Baillie Gifford, as well as top investors such as BlackRock, TPG (The Rise Fund), SoftBank, Glynn Capital, NewView Capital, USVP, Wing, Uncork, and more.
About the role
As the Business Lead, New Experiences, you will report to the VP, Experience and own a rotating portfolio of 0-to-1 initiatives that create new products, offerings, and revenue lines for Human Interest. Some extend the core 401(k) with new capabilities and services, some open new markets through partners and platforms, and some are entirely new product lines. The portfolio changes over time; your mandate is always the current highest-leverage opportunity.
In this role, you will take strategic ideas and turn them into real products. You will build the business case, talk to customers and partners, translate what you learn into requirements, and partner with our technology org to build against them. You will then structure the commercial agreements and lead the go-to-market, acting as the business counterpart to product and engineering during the build and to the GTM org at launch. When an offering matures into a run-state business, you hand it off and move to the next opportunity.
This is not a program management role. You do the strategy, research, requirements, and commercialization yourself.
What you get to do every day
- Business Strategy: Build the business case for each initiative: market sizing, financial model, pricing and monetization, distribution, and competitive analysis. Get signoff from the executive team.
- Discovery & User Research: Run stakeholder, customer, and partner interviews, usability studies, and surveys, and use the findings to decide what we build.
- Requirements & Technology Partnership: Turn strategy and research into requirements, and work with product managers, designers, and engineering leads through the build.
- Commercial Structuring: Negotiate partner agreements, revenue share models, vendor contracts, and enterprise pilot terms with support from legal, finance, and compliance.
- Go-to-Market: Lead positioning, packaging, pricing, sales enablement, and partner activation. Land the first customers and partners, then hand the motion to the GTM org.
What you bring to the role
- 8+ years across product, strategy, business development, or general management, with at least 3 years taking new products or offerings from concept to market.
- A proven 0-to-1 record: You can point to a product or business line that exists because you built the case, drove the build, and took it to market.
- Financial fluency: You build the financial model and pricing yourself rather than waiting for finance to build it for you.
- Hands-on research skills: You have personally run interviews and usability studies and turned them into product decisions.
- Technology partnership: A strong track record working with engineering and product orgs as a business counterpart, including writing requirements that teams could actually build against.
- Deal experience: You have negotiated partner, vendor, or enterprise agreements with real dollars attached.
- Executive-grade communication, written and live.
- Bonus: Experience in retirement, fintech, wealth management, or B2B financial services; familiarity with embedded finance, API platforms, or white-label products; comfort using AI tools to move faster on research, modeling, and content.
