Description

Innoviz Technologies is developing state-of-the-art LiDAR sensors for the automotive industry. The Lidar platform group is responsible for developing high-performance, multidisciplinary Lidar platforms. We are looking for a System Opto-Mechanical Engineer to join our great team! Our work spans optical, mechanical, electronic, and software domains, from concept through production. We collaborate closely with product, R&D, and manufacturing teams to ensure robust, scalable, and manufacturable solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop opto-mechanical components and assemblies using CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo).
  • Conduct complex tolerance analyses and mechanical simulations.
  • Design and assemble optical/mechanical lab setups for characterization and validation.
  • Lead and support root cause analysis (RCA) and failure analysis (FA) during development and production.
  • Perform hands-on lab testing, system-level evaluations, and support test automation when needed (MATLAB/Python).
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary R&D teams: optics, systems, electronics, and software.
  • Interface with manufacturing partners and support design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-to-cost efforts.
  • Develop and optimize assembly and integration flows from the R&D side to ensure smooth transition to engineering and production teams.
  • Model mechanical behavior.

Requirements

  • B.Sc. In Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years of experience (M.Sc. an advantage).
  • Experience in design of opto-mechanical systems.
  • Experience in design for manufacturing and design to cost (injection molding, die casting, stamping etc.).
  • Hands-on lab experience with assembly, alignment, troubleshooting, and standard optical and electrical tools.
  • Experience and proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python for data analysis, automation, and system modeling.
  • Experience with FEM modeling tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL) for structural or thermal analysis (advantage)
  • Ability to work efficiently in a multidisciplinary environment with tight, fast-paced development schedules.
