Join our Commodities Markets and Finance Americas COO team as a Commodities and Global Markets Analyst based in our Houston office. Our Commodities Markets and Finance Division (CMF) delivers clients a comprehensive suite of services, including risk management, financing, market access, physical execution, and logistics. As part of CGM’s integrated global platform, CMF specializes in hedging, risk monitoring, funding solutions, logistics, and market access across global commodity markets.
The CMF Americas COO team partners closely with CMF businesses and support functions to ensure efficient and effective operations aligned with CMF’s strategic objectives. The team supports day to day operations, delivers qualitative and quantitative management reporting, and develops solutions to operational, commercial, and strategic challenges.

What role will you play?

In this role, you will provide day to day middle office support to trading desks by ensuring trades, risk positions, and P&L are fully, accurately, and timely represented in systems. You will monitor booking models; execute controls and reporting; book trading related cash flows (e.g., brokerage and funding costs); and maintain regulatory reporting and associated controls. You will own end to end trade lifecycle controls, including trade booking, reconciliations (including P&L), exception management, trade monitoring, and front to back reporting to resolve breaks and support CMF’s regulatory framework.
On a day to day basis, you will maintain a strong understanding of applicable regulatory obligations and assess the effectiveness of existing controls to ensure ongoing compliance. You will support CMF’s regulatory framework by ensuring adherence to prudential and regulatory requirements, while building effective working relationships with CMF colleagues and stakeholders based on trust, collaboration, and accountability. You will coordinate closely with Finance, Risk Management, Tax, Operations, Technology/IT, Legal, Treasury/Group Treasury, and Corporate Governance to resolve issues and support business objectives.

What you offer

• Degree in business, engineering, or science with strong academic performance
• 1–5 years of experience, ideally in financial services or commodity trading (e.g., risk, controls, operations, or business analyst roles)
• Working knowledge of financial markets, commodities trading, derivatives, and core risk concepts (market, credit, and operational risk)
• Strong numerical, Excel, and analytical skills; familiarity with programming (e.g., VBA or Python) preferred
• Understanding of commodity operations and the trade lifecycle, including trade booking, reconciliations, P&L, logistics, hedging, and regulatory reporting
• Awareness of legal, accounting, regulatory, funding, tax, and governance concepts, with the ability to navigate processes and partner effectively with control functions
• Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage stakeholders confidently and professionally
