The Architecture function enables the division to maximise the value of its data by establishing robust, scalable, and governed data foundations that support all of Macquarie’s business and technology operations. What role will you play?

You will drive the data architecture strategy for the division, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards while supporting operational efficiency, regulatory compliance and effective risk management. You will represent the Group Data Architect in governance forums, ensuring adherence to data policies, standards and controls, while playing a key role in embedding data governance practices such as ownership, stewardship and control frameworks. Partnering closely with broader architecture and data teams, you will design scalable, cloud-based data solutions that meet business and regulatory requirements, including developing and maintaining data models for critical domains. You will lead improvements in data quality, lineage and metadata management, support regulatory and audit requirements through strong governance and traceability, and provide architectural leadership to delivery teams to drive consistent design patterns and reusable assets. You will also simplify complex data concepts for senior stakeholders to support informed decision-making and influence strategic initiatives across the group and the wider organisation.

  • Strong experience in data architecture within large operational or corporate services environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in Data Architecture Governance and implementing Data Governance in regulated environments.
  • Hands-on expertise in data modelling using ERWIN Data Modeler (conceptual, logical, and physical modelling).
  • Experience in designing AI solutions, an understanding of its risks and benefits, and an understanding of how AI is embedded in modern products and solutions.
  • Deep understanding of Data Management principles including data quality, lineage, metadata, and controls.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS cloud data services (Redshift, S3, Glue, EMR, Kinesis) and modern data engineering tooling. Experience in other suites such as Google (GCP) is an added benefit.
  • Experience designing data solutions for regulatory reporting, auditability, and risk management.
  • Awareness of modern data paradigms such as Data Mesh and Data Fabric in enterprise environments.
  • Understanding of AI/ML and analytics use cases driven by well-governed operational data.
