About monday.com

monday.com is the AI work platform powering the most ambitious teams. 250,000+ customers across departments use us to bring people, workflows, and AI agents together on one flexible platform where AI doesn't just assist, it executes. We move fast, build things that matter, and foster an ownership-driven culture where you're empowered to shape how organizations work and outpace their competition.

About the Team

The P&I (People & Interactions) team owns the communication and interaction layer of monday.com. That includes the notifications pipeline, updates and communication infrastructure, email delivery, integrations with third-party platforms, and form-building and submission functionality. We already ship AI features including Write with AI, Updates AI Summarizer, Quick Reply with AI, and AI Form Builder, and we're expanding this surface significantly. Our systems process tens of millions of events per day, serving 200,000+ customers, which means scale, latency, and reliability are constant engineering challenges with real user impact.

About the Role

  • Design, build, and ship AI-powered features in the communication and notifications domain

  • Architect and improve high-throughput async systems and drive performance and reliability at scale through lasting architectural improvements

  • Work across the stack using modern technologies to create delightful user experiences

  • Collaborate with product, design, and cross-functional teams to ship customer-facing AI experiences

  • Shape technical direction: API design, AI model integration patterns, and the evolution of our event-driven architecture

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record of shipping production features at scale

  • Proficiency in server-side and client-side development - TypeScript, Node.js, React, or similar technologies

  • Experience building and operating distributed, event-driven systems and background workers at scale

  • Strong observability mindset - you can trace a latency or reliability issue end-to-end using logs, metrics, and traces

  • Drive engineering excellence, reliability, and performance across fast-moving codebases

  • Strong communication skills, team mindset, and empathy

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on experience integrating LLMs or AI/ML models into production software (prompt engineering, streaming APIs, cost/latency tradeoffs)

  • Experience building notification systems, or third-party platform integrations at scale

  • Familiarity with GraphQL APIs, ideally in a federated architecture

  • Comfortable working across both backend systems and product-facing features

If this sounds like your kind of challenge, we’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us and help shape how millions of people communicate and collaborate at work.
