Role Description
This is a full-time remote role with occasional on-site travel time and the potential for future occasional in-office time. On site travel is important for regular collaboration with customer IT departments and customer operational leaders.
You’ll be responsible for scaling our technical operations. Day-to-day, you’ll work on developing, securing, and maintaining the technical infrastructure that powers Opmed’s platform. Your focus areas will include networking, software architecture, cloud computing, and EHR write back. Within these areas, you’ll manage and automate infrastructure deployment, build and maintain real-time and batch data integrations with customer systems, and drive scalable solutions across our platform.
Responsibilities also include designing, configuring, and scaling secure cloud infrastructure, managing AWS services, writing Terraform infrastructure-as-code, establishing and monitoring HL7/FHIR/API/flat file data pipelines, supporting customer go-lives with hands-on technical setup, conducting detailed root cause analyses for technical issues, leading engineering support meetings, contributing to technical documentation and knowledge sharing across the company, and interfacing with customer operations for their technical needs.
Qualifications
- Strong experience with leading development of software architecture, networking, integrations, and deploying software on cloud platforms, experience with AWS is preferred (ideal candidates have experience using Lambda, EC2, VPN, Route 53 and networking tools like load balancers and transit gateways)
- Strong experience with designing for difficult-to-access or missing data and hybrid integration architectures (when combining event-based streams, synchronous APIs, and batch/ETL processes into one unified schema.
- Ability to lead design of a horizontally-scalable technical integration architecture and deployment workflows in partnership with Engineering and DevOps teams. Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is valuable.
- Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools, experience with Terraform is preferred
- Experience with healthcare data integration methods, including FHIR APIs, HL7v2 interfaces, flat file pipelines, and API-driven or ETL-style processes
- Proficiency in designing SQL-based database schemas and optimizing for deeply-linked and filtered data.
- Familiarity with health IT systems such as Epic, Cerner, or other EHR platforms
- Excellent troubleshooting skills across networking, data streams, and application services
- Strong reporting and analytical skills, including the ability to structure, manipulate, and interpret data using tools such as Excel, SQL, or other analytical platforms to derive ROI insights and support decision-making.
- Comfortably lead customer-facing technical discussions and internal working sessions
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple complex priorities across projects and customers
- Minimum 7 years of directly relevant work experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
Preferred
- Proficiency in Python for scripting and automation; familiarity with TypeScript or willingness to work within a TypeScript-based codebase is a plus.
