Role Summary
The Process Engineering role at Rivian is critical to ensuring we not only meet production milestones but to do so effectively. In this front-line role, you will have a hand in improving current processes, partnering with cross functional teams and working through high level problem solving to meet KPIs. The opening is located at our Normal, IL facility and reports directly to the Process Configuration Manager within the Material Supply department.
Responsibilities
Responsible for sustainment and improvement projects following process handover from the Material Flow Engineering Team, alongside Continuous Improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with the Supply Chain Team to design and implement optimized layouts for material storage and processing across multiple warehouse sites and all manufacturing areas as part of continuous improvement initiatives.
Audit staffing and equipment needs through time studies to determine and forecast departmental budget requirements.
Maintain Plan for Every Part database, including standard packaging data and all material flow attributes. Communicates any changes to all affected parties
Leads Continuous Improvement projects to improve efficiency of material handling processes and drive cost reductions
Develops and coordinates the acquisition of various delivery carts/racks
Resolves part quality issues related to material handling process or packaging
Maintain and develop calculations for buffers, including lineside maximum Kanban limits and order-ahead pipeline.
Liaison for Data Systems and/or Plant IT group on improvements to user interfaces to simplify material handling processes
Maintain standard work and job cards for all Material Supply processes
Rebalance delivery methods based upon line rate changes to most efficiently support posted jobs per hour (JPH)
Provide overall support to the Production and Material Supply organization
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related area of study and 3 years of previous experience or the equivalent required
Experience using engineering design software such as AutoCAD preferred
Experience with Materials Requirement Planning “MRP” Software such as SAP preferred
High level of proficiency in Excel, Word, Power point, and Outlook programs
Leadership skills preferred
Ability to set tasks and responsibilities
Creative problem-solving skills
Ability to meet deadlines and stay within budget
Strong team orientation and cross functional attitude
Ability to read and interpret documents such as governmental regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Ability to communicate in a high-pressure environment
Pay Disclosure
The salary range for this role is $98,500-$123,100 for Illinois based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs.
The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.
