The Portfolio Reporting Analyst sits within Optus’ Billing and Credit function in Group Finance, providing analytical and reporting support to the Senior Portfolio Analyst and the wider Billing & Credit Performance Analytics team. The role contributes to secure customer onboarding, accurate billing, and effective credit and collections outcomes across all customer segments by enabling high quality insight, reliable reporting, and robust data foundations.
Working under the guidance of the Senior Portfolio Analyst, the role assists in translating complex data into clear insights that inform decision making across the end-to-end collections and recoveries lifecycle, including hardship. The position plays a key role in supporting performance analysis, reporting integrity, and stakeholder engagement, helping ensure senior leaders and stakeholders have the insights required to drive improvements in customer experience, operational efficiency, risk management, and financial outcomes.
What you’ll be doing
- Support the design, build, automation, and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and scorecards, ensuring alignment with best practice data visualisation standards and direction set by the Senior Portfolio Analyst.
- Assist in the development and delivery of analysis and forecasting outputs by preparing data, identifying trends, and highlighting risks and opportunities for escalation and discussion.
- Contribute to the translation of complex data into clear, consistent performance narratives to support portfolio level reporting and reviews.
- Partner with Billing & Payments stakeholders to support performance discussions, respond to ad hoc analytical requests, and provide timely insights to inform business decisions.
- Work closely with the Senior Portfolio Analyst to support portfolio deep dives, stakeholder packs, and executive ready reporting materials.
- Collaborate with enterprise data and analytics teams to implement agreed reporting solutions in line with broader data strategy, standards, and best practice.
- Support strong data accuracy and governance by maintaining reporting integrity, applying standardised definitions and methodologies, and assisting with the upkeep of data models and documentation.
What makes you perfect for the role?
- University degree in business, finance, marketing, statistics, or a related field.
- 3+ years’ experience supporting data analytics, integration, and visualisation initiatives within a complex environment.
- Strong SQL capability, including complex querying and large-scale data manipulation to support analytical outcomes.
- Experience using BI and analytics tools (e.g. Tableau, Cognos, Alteryx) and advanced Excel to produce reliable and repeatable reporting.
- Exposure to complex data models, data quality considerations, and governance frameworks.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to present insights clearly and support engagement with senior stakeholders.
