Singtel
Macquarie Park NSW 2113, Australia
Optus is an Australian telecommunications company, delivering more than 11 million services to our customers every day across mobile, broadband and digital solutions.
We're looking for an Associate Director, Strategic Programs and Continual Improvement to join our EB Delivery Commercial Operations & Experience team based in Macquarie Park - Sydney. In this senior leadership role, you'll take primary responsibility for driving customer-centric business improvement and digital transformation programs across the Enterprise division. You'll bring together strategy and execution — leading a team of senior business analysts, steering governance, managing change, and ensuring every program delivers real commercial outcomes for Optus and our customers.
What You'll Do
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of strategic transformation programs across EB Delivery, including oversight of business change processes, capital expenditure controls, budget administration, and governance over remediation activities.
- Run and manage Change Governance frameworks; establish, own, and maintain the Business Change Risk Register across nominated projects.
- Drive continual improvement initiatives — identifying opportunities, standardising team offerings, and lifting quality outcomes across the Commercial Operations function.
- Manage and allocate demand across OWS to the most appropriate and skilled resources; oversee third party vendors and internal IT groups to meet committed project deliverables within agreed timelines and budgets.
- Act as a key escalation point and 2IC to the Director, Commercial Operations; chair steering committee meetings, prepare executive-level reporting, and maintain strong governance disciplines across cross-functional teams.
- Build and sustain strong customer relationships throughout project delivery, ensuring a consistently positive experience and achieving a Customer Experience rating of 9 or 10 — supporting future contract extension opportunities.
What Makes You Perfect for the Role?
- Significant change and project management experience in the telecommunications or ICT industry, with a demonstrated record of delivering large, complex programs involving multiple work packages.
- Proven ability to work with customers and third-party vendors at Senior and Executive Management level, with strong commercial and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated experience across IT, Network, Business and Customer landscapes (3+ years minimum), with the ability to understand technical solutions and end-to-end architecture.
- Strong people leadership skills — you're experienced in managing and mentoring a team, driving a culture of knowledge sharing, active participation, and personal excellence.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills — you're comfortable presenting persuasively at the Executive level, both internally and externally, and skilled at bringing diverse teams together to achieve challenging outcomes.
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Program Management, Change Management, Telecommunications, Engineering or ICT (or equivalent experience); project management certification (AIPM, PMI) desirable.
