The Role

The Borrow Data Science team is seeking a Senior Data Scientist who will help drive growth in our Lending businesses by transforming raw data into a compelling narrative for success. This is an exciting role for a proactive data scientist who is naturally curious and possesses a deep-seated drive to uncover insights before they are even requested.

Success in this role hinges on your ability to act as a strategic partner; you are not just a technical executor but an analytical storyteller who can bridge the gap between complex data and business strategy. While you have the technical aptitude to leverage tools like SQL, Python, dbt, and Airflow to build robust pipelines in Snowflake, your true impact lies in your ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence the product roadmap through data-driven advocacy.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive Proactive Insights: Use your curiosity to dig deep into data, identifying trends and opportunities that others might miss, and proactively presenting these findings to leadership.
  • Champion AI Productivity: Act as a pioneer for AI integration within the team. Identify and implement AI tools and workflows that streamline data engineering tasks, accelerate analysis, and drive outsized business impact.
  • Analytical Storytelling: Translate complex quantitative analyses into simple, persuasive narratives that enable business leaders to make informed, high-stakes decisions.
  • Strategic Leadership: Partner with cross-functional teams to lead the optimization of core product decisions, including funnel conversion, experimentation, and unit economics.
  • Build Technical Foundations: Design and maintain scalable reporting pipelines in Snowflake using dbt and Airflow, ensuring business logic is efficiently encapsulated for company-wide use.
  • Champion KPI Consistency: Create frameworks that ensure a "single source of truth" for KPIs across various platforms and BI tools.
  • Mentor and Innovate: Stay ahead of industry trends and technical features to continuously improve our data stack, while mentoring peers on best practices in analytical rigor.

What You’ll Need

  • Education: B.S., M.S., or M.B.A. in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Engineering, CS, Mathematics, etc.).
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in an Analytics, Data Science, or Engineering role, preferably within Finance or Tech.
  • Communication & Influence: Exceptional communication skills with a proven track record of influencing stakeholders and leading projects from conception to completion.
  • Innate Curiosity: A self-starter mindset with a passion for problem-solving and an ability to thrive in dynamic, ambiguous environments.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong programming skills in SQL and Python, with hands-on experience using dbt and Airflow to build data pipelines in Snowflake.
  • Data Visualization: Experience building intuitive and impactful dashboards in tools like Tableau to support your storytelling.
  • Collaboration: Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work seamlessly across diverse, cross-functional teams
